Acting Fundamentals

Script Analysis

Directing for the Stage

Our Directing for the Stage course is tailored for those interested in the art of theatrical direction. From conceptualizing a vision to bringing a script to life on stage, students will learn the intricacies of casting, rehearsal techniques, and working with actors. This class provides a unique opportunity for aspiring directors to understand the collaborative process of theater production and develop their unique directorial style.


Improvisational Theater

Dialects and Accents

Classical or Modern Acting Techniques

Meeting your instructor,

DeNae Brown-Murray

DeNae’s journey in theatre is marked by her diverse skill set in acting, directing, improv, and dialects. Her robust experience has seen her shine in numerous community theatre productions, showcasing her versatility across a range of roles.

Some of her notable acting credits include performances in "Significant Other," "Dancing at Lughnasa," "In the Next Room," "Real Women Have Curves," "Living Out," "The Cherry Orchard," "Hotel Paradiso," "Dracula," and "The Merry Wives of Windsor."

Her directorial talents were highlighted in the world premiere of “The Book of Andy” at The Empty Space, as well as directing "The Laramie Project" for CSUB’s ASTA program.

Whether you’re new to acting or looking to refine your skills, these classes are designed to nurture your talent and passion for the stage.

Tuition and Fees

We strive to make Theatre education accessible. Private students pay a monthly tuition that includes one private class per month. For those interested in group classes, a nominal fee of $35 per month allows access to unlimited group lessons across various fields, including music and acting, providing exceptional value.

Students involved in drama performance coursework or experience outscored non-arts students on the 2005 SAT by an average of 65 points in the verbal component and 34 points in the math component.
